    Chemical digestion of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. The chemical breakdown of the macromolecules that is contained in food is completed by tons and tons of enzymes that are created in the digestive system!

During carbohydrate digestion the bonds between glucose molecules are broken by salivary and pancreatic amylase.
