Respiration is a metabolic process that is common to all living organisms. The respiratory system includes a set of organs that allows a person to breathe and exchange gases (oxygen and carbon dioxide) throughout the body. In humans the respiratory system includes organs like nasal passage, larynx, trachea, bronchial tubes, alveoli and lungs.

The correct order of the steps of the respiration process are as follows:

    1. Air enters the nostrils: The human nose has two openings, which are called as nostrils. The air from the surrounding atmosphere enters the human body firstly, through nostrils and than enters inside the nasal cavity.

    2. Air passes from the trachea to the bronchi: The air through nasal cavity passes towards pharynx to larynx, then to trachea and the air enters into the lungs inside the branching network of small tubes called as bronchi.

    3. Air diffuses from the alveoli to the blood cells: The brochial tubes are further, branched into small alveoli. At alveoli the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide containing blood takes place.

    4. Oxygen enters the blood cells: The oxygen carrying blood passes from the alveoli into the capillaries, whereas carbon dioxide passes from the capillaries into the alveoli.

    5. Blood transports oxygen to other cell: The blood flows from the lungs transports oxygen to all the cells of the body.
