Aerobic respiration extracts more energy from a glucose molecule than any other type of respiration. Why might some organisms that can use aerobic respiration also retain the ability to use anaerobic respiration?

    because the products of the process, such as ethanol, contain more energy than does carbon dioxide, the product of aerobic respiration.
