Charles Darwin theory of evolution state that over time organisms will go under some form of change, whether its behavioral or physical. He initially started his research in the 1830s but didn't post his theory of evolution until 1859. Charles Darwin waited 20 + years to publish his theory because he was afraid of the impact it had on the opinions of many people and if they would have rebutted it or not.

Darwin delayed publication of the Origin of Species for two decades, until 1859, because he was nervous about the likely reaction of church authorities and professional colleagues to the theory of evolution by natural selection (a theory he first developed in 1839).
