How do microorganisms in the soil affect the soil's fertility? A) They convert the nutrients in the soil to compounds that plants cannot absorb. B) They contaminate the water in the soil, making it difficult for plants to get water. C) They decompose the remains of plants and animals and add nutrients back to the soil.
