Why are arteries thick walled while veins are thick walled

    as the blood rushes at a higher speed in the arteries while the blood in the vein flows really slowly (comparitively)

    Arteries have to carry blood at high pressure so they need thick, muscular walls to withstand this whereas veins carry blood

    at a much lower pressure
