    Unwinding part of original DNA

    Explanation:

    For DNA to be replicated, it has to be unwound. This allows the original DNA strands to be used as a template for a copy by the replicating enzymes-DNA polymerase. Helicases are responsible for this unwinding following which a replication fork is formed.
