How do the Moon, Earth, and Sun interact?

    An example of a direct interaction would be the tides. The tides are the periodic rising and falling of the oceans each day. They're caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun on the oceans of the earth. As the moon moves across the sky, it pulls the oceans with it.
