    This type of stroke is caused by a blockage in an artery that supplies blood to the brain. The blockage reduces the blood flow and oxygen to the brain, leading to damage or death of brain cells.

Then, the anaerobic process of cellular respiration for the production of energy, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is developed. However, this process produces an unsatisfactory amount of ATP and the formation of a large amount of lactate, which will increase the number of hydrogen ions (H + ), and consequently reduce the pH of the nerve cell, thus initiating the injury process.
