    Nucleic Acids

    Explanation:

Gene is a heredity unit that is responsible for the hereditary information from one generation to another generation. Chemically, most of the genes are made up of biological macromolecules that are known as deoxyribonucleic acid and some genes of the viruses are made up of the ribonucleic acid and overall these two genetic materials are called as nucleic acid. So gene is made up of nucleic acid biomolecules that may be DNA or RNA. Genes are present on the chromosomes and play an important role in the synthesis of the proteins in the cell.
