    Answer;

    D. a phosphate, a deoxyribose, and a nitrogen base

    Explanation; Nucleotides are building blocks of nucleic acids, that is DNA and RNA. A nucleotide is made up of three components, that is a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base. The nucleotides in the RNA and those in the DNA differ in the type of 5-carbon sugar present. In RNA the nucleotides contains the sugar ribose while those of DNA contains deoxyribose sugar. Nucleotides functions may also be related to enzyme reactions, cell signaling and metabolism.
