Could elodea or paramecium from a fresh water lake can be expected to survive if transplanted into ocean. Explain?

    If paramecium or elodea was to be transplanted from a fresh water lake to an ocean, they are certainly not going to survive. This is because the condition of the environment becomes hypertonic to the cell, hence the outward movement of water from the cell is enhanced and the cell becomes shrink and falls apart.
