Archaea and bacteria are both considered prokaryotes because they don't have organelles with membranes, such as nuclei or mitochondria. Archaea aren't encountered often in daily life because they occupy more extreme places, like volcanoes. Bacteria cause infections in people but also are important to life on earth. Eukaryotes include plants and people.
