Why is the scientific method described as nonlinear

a. The steps of the scientific method are repeated in a cycle.

Hypotheses are made, then tested, and then adjusted according to the results of the experiments. This process continues over and over, and it never truly ends. Even very well accepted theories like that of gravity are still being tested.
