The 2-month-old child could be dehydrated because of diarrhea and may have contracted an infection. Try a little skin pinch test sees if the child produces tears. Other symptoms of dehydration would be decreased urine volume, weak rapid pulse rate, and dry mucous membrane. The laboratory tests would show an increase of urine specific gravity, hemoconcentration, polycythemia, and increase of BUN.
