Why is double loop circulation better for larger, more active animals than single loop circulation

The double loop circulation is said to be better for larger, more active animals in contrary to the single loop circulation because multiple pumping of blood throughout the circulatory system is easier compared to single pumping. Single pumping needs a larger amount of energy to distribute blood in our body.
