How are organisms involved in energy transfer at a cellular level?

    Energy is stored in the bonds between atoms that make up complex molecules. These complex molecules are produced inside the cells of producers and as consumers eat the producers, these complex molecules are broken down to obtain energy used to produce biomolecules. This happens inside the cells. The energy is also used for the activities of the consumers.
