How does a mother infected with an std (syphilis) infect her unborn baby? is it in the womb or when the baby is being born? I'm so confused

    If the mother is a carrier of the STD then the unborn baby will have it. A female carries the X gene which is in both chromosomes for the boy and girl. (girl: xx; boy: xy)
