How do some cells become brain cells and others become skin cells

    Best Answer: In cell specialization/differentiation, specific cell functions are due to specific genes being "turned on" to perform those specific functions. Ex. liver cells become liver cells because genes specific to the function that those cells will perform become turned on.

    That is why stem cell research is a very promising field in biology since these cells have the potential of becoming anything depending on the genes that get turned on or activated
