    There are three set of structures make up the brainstem, Medulla, Pons, and Cerebellum. The medulla, which controls our breathing, swallowing, blood pressure, and heart rate. The pons, which links the cerebellum to the cerebrum. The midbrain, which governs rudimentary our vision and hearing.
