Innate behavior is an inherent inclination of a living organism or creature as reaction a certain complex behavior. This behavior is determined by the ‘hard-wiring’ of the nervous system. Usually, it is inflexible. It is a given reaction that is triggered by a given stimulus. These responses are ‘built in’ in species and are not learned by practice. Examples are reflexes. The Withdrawal Reflex happens when we touch a hot object. Usually, the reaction would be to pull the hand away. Another example is instincts. For example, dogs have a scratching behavior that is part of their genetic heritage.
