What force keeps an object floating in a fluid

    The force applied that is in one way pulling the matter.

    Density.

    If the density is more than that of water than it sinks.

    If it is less than it floats.

    Density is the amount of mass in a certain space, therefore

    D = M/V

    Density = mass divided by volume
