When might an increase in biodiversity lead to a decrease in the stability of an ecosystem?

    yes, if the biodiversity keep on increasing, and surpasses the carrying capacity, the stabilty of the ecosystem will be lost. This will be due to deplenishing resources, increasing competition, difficulty in survival and less availability of food. Therefore, a balance should always be maintained in the biodiversity as well optimal climate for stabilizing an ecosystem.
