Describe newtons first, second, and third law?

    Newton's first law is: an object at rest stays at rest until an unbalanced force is acted upon it. An object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by an unbalanced force. Newton's first law is also called the Law of Inertia.

    An example of this would be if a hockey puck was sliding on ice. It would eventually come to a stop because of the friction on the ice.

    Newton's second law is: Acceleration is produced when a force acts upon a mass. A math equation gives us an exact relationship between mass, acceleration, and force. F=MA (force equals mass multiplied by acceleration).

    An example of Newton's second law is someone kicking a ball versus someone kicking a brick wall. The ball has less mass, and therefore needs less force to accelerate it. The person kicking the brick wall can't make the wall accelerate because in order to break the wall, the person needs to produce more force.

    Newton's Third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

    An example of this would be when you sit in a chair. You are producing a force against the chair, and the chair is producing a force against you.
