    Protein synthesis occurs as a result of gene expression and it is divided into two steps which are transcription and translation. Transcription occurs in the nucleus and it is the first step in gene expression which involves copying of DNA into RNA. After being synthesized in the nucleus, mRNA needs to be transferred into the cytoplasm, through the nuclear pore complex. Transcription and translation are separated processes (in eukaryotes) which enables the regulation of gene expression in a much more intricate way.

    Translation starts when the mRNA migrate from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. During the translation, mRNA is decoded (tRNA anticodon sequences are complementary binding to mRNA codons) in a ribosome to produce a specific amino acid chain, or polypeptide (future protein). After the ribosome, polypeptides are passed to the rough endoplasmic reticulum (ER) for modifications. Created proteins can be stored inside the ER for the short time, or can be transported to the Golgi body which send the appropriate ones to the plasma membrane for the secretion.

    Translatiion starts when the mRNA migrate from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In the cytoplasm the protein synthesis take place inside the ribosomes after which they are passed to the rough endoplasmic reticulum for modifications. After this, the proteins are transported to the golgi body which send the appropriate ones tot he plasma membrane.
