    Chromatography is a method that separates individual elements from substances for further study. You use chromatography to separate plant pigments and sort them according to their physical characteristics. You use it because they are very difficult to differentiate because they are very similar. You pass things through a solution and pigments bind themselves to different parts of the solution.
