Mitosis and meiosis are similar processes, but they have some very important differences. Explain how mitosis and meiosis are alike and how they are different. Provide at least two similarities and three differences.

    Mitosis and meiosis have similar mechanism of chromosomes division (spindle) and have phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase. BUT in meiosis chromosomes are grouped in pairs, as a result cells have twice less chromosomes than a maternal cell, plus during a meiosis a crossing over takes place

    mitosis: 2 cells are produced

    meiosis: 4 cells are produced

    alike:

    they both have interphase
