Klinefelter sydrome is a nondisjunction disorder. In nondisjunction, the chromosomes did not split evenly during cell division. This means that instead of having two copies of a chromosome, the person has one copy or three. When this happens on certain chromosomes it can cause the death of the embryo. Other times it can cause a disorder such as Klinefelter syndrome where there is an extra sex chromosome, either XXY or XYY
