Well in order to overcome this problem the scientist first needs to identify an organism that has a physiological system similar to humans such as mice. The Disease can artificially be induced in the mice their affects studied and the affect of the gene therapy in question can be induced on the mice and studied as they have a much shorter life cycle than humans. The results can be used to infer the effectiveness of the gene therapy on Humans.
