A negative feedback loop is when we're doing something and we're receiving feedback on whether we should continue doing or stop doing what we have been doing so far. In negative feedback loops this is usually with a negative reinforcement that comes back to the input source. In positive feedback loops, we're usually receiving information at the input source on whether we should continue doing what we're doing more, this makes the connection stronger and longer lasting.
