Describe the embryonic origins of the anterior and posterior lobes of the pituitary gland

    The Posterior lobe of the pituitary gland originates innervous tissue and is formed embryonically from a growth of the diencephalon. The anterior lobe is formed embryonically from a growth from the primitive oral cavity, or oral ectoderm. Together they form the pituitary gland.
