The polarity of a water molecule is due to the uneven attraction towards the electrons shared between hydrogen and Oxygen because of which Oxygen in water has a partial negative charge and Hydrogen gets a partial positive charge

The oxygen is negative and the hydrogen is positive, so it has a slightly negative side and a slightly positive side. (like a magnet has opposite ends)
