Butter melts when you heat it in a pan on the stove. is this a chemical change or physical change? how can you tell?

    It is a physical change. It is still butter, but it is in a different form. Butter (not melted) is a solid. But when it melts, it is changed into a liquid. This is a physical change, because its form has changed. Nothing chemically has changed.
