The nuclear envelope is a membrane that encloses a nucleus and separates it from the cytoplasm in eukaryotic cells. It is also known as the nuclear membrane. It is made up of two membranes - the inner membrane and the outer membrane. By separating the nucleus from the cytoplasm, DNA in the nucleus remains safe from the chemical reactions that occur in the cytoplasm.
