How does the DNA of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells differ

    The DNA of prokaryotic cells is present in cytoplasm whereas the DNA of eukaryotic cells is present in nucleus, which is a membrane bound organelle. Secondly, DNA of prokaryotic cells is usually present in the form of short, circular rings called plasmids. In comparison to this, the DNA of eukaryotic cells is long and held in form of helical strands. Also, eukaryotic DNA is complexed with proteins called histones whereas no such proteins are present in prokaryotic DNA.
