A sex-linked trait is one that is present on sex chromosomes. There are two sex chromosomes in humans, the X chromosome and the Y chromosome. Since the Y chromosome doesnot contain any significant genes, the sex-linked traits are present on X chromosomes. Any sex-linked trait which is recessive will only show in females if it is present on both X chromosomes and in males in any case.

    Females: XrXr

    Males: XrY
