Hi there!

Plants regulate how much water vapor they lose through transpiration by only opening when necessary and under optimal conditions if possible. As a result of this, a plant will never attempt to open its stomate on a D. hot, dry day.

The hot, dry air causes massive amounts of water vapor to be pulled from the plant when its stomate is open because of the low amount of water vapor in the air. Many plants, especially desert plants, prefer to open their stomata during the cooler nights. Because transpiration does not require sunlight, this is also the most efficient way to do it.
