    The correct answer is A. Photosynthesis. To conduct photosynthesis, you need chloroplasts and these are found in the leaves which is why the leaves are green. Roots don't have them and they aren't exposed to the sun and don't create energy using photosynthesis. They do however absorb nutrients from the soil.
