The answer is Lava cause Lava is merely the ingredients, so to speak, of a rock. It is called molten rock but is not a rock in itself. It has all of the minerals that will eventually "make" an igneous rock when it cools, but it is not a rock until it cools, ceasing to be lava and becoming an igneous rock.
