    They are paired, placed in launae and have canaliculi to receive and send nutritive materials to matrix.

    bone cells start off as pluripotent cells from the periosteum, differentiate into osteoblasts with the function of producing bone matrix and then as they become encased in the bone tissue they mature into osteocytes with the role of controlling the maintenance of the bone tissue
