The part of a plant that has the potential to produce a lateral shoot is B. auxiliary bud. Auxiliary buds aren't the most relevant buds on a plant, thus they got their name, but they can give rise to a shoot that is formed on the sides of a plant. Apical bud is the primary bud, and cannot do so. Terminal buds are also dominant.
