What is the difference between light-dependent reactions and light-independent reactions?

    If I'm correct most plants require sunlight as their main energy source, making them light dependent. Other plants such as succulents (cactus) do not require as much sunlight to go through photosynthesis, making them light independent. Most light independent plants get their energy through the Kreb's cycle.
