Why does a reduction reaction always accompany and oxidation reaction

    As with anything, it takes two to tango. Forces in the universe don't act alone. Chemistry is no exception. If one atom or molecule is giving electrons, another must be taking (or sharing). That's why the common term is redox reactions.
