    The light-dependent reactions (the "light" reactions) - occur on the thylakoid membranes The light-independent reactions (the "dark" reactions) - occur in the stroma. T he light-independent reactions use materials produced in the light-dependent reactions, so in a sense, they are dependent on eachother.
