Parasitism is when one organism benefits at the expense of its host. For example, a tick on a dog. The tick is benefiting, but not the dog.

Mutualism is when both organisms benefit from the relationship. For example, a bird and a water buffalo. The bird eats mold growing on the water buffalo's back keeping it clean, and at the same time is receiving food.
