In what ways is vaccination different from other types of personal health?

Vaccines are different from other types of personal health decisions because they are often presented as a necessary good rather than a parental decision. Vaccines are so controversial because they are often given to children regardless of parental decisions. Due to the importance of keeping records at schools, doctors offices, and hospitals, parents are often required to give their children the "necessary" vaccines. Often times it can become a legal problem when parents choose not to give their children vaccinations. Because of these reasons, vaccinating your kids has become the societal norm, and people often do not question the importance/consequences of certain vaccinations. This is much different from other types of personal health decisions because there are large ramifications if parents do not vaccinate their children, and because of this vaccinations have become somewhat "non-negotiable
