    The answer is C) it uses carbon dioxide and produces oxygen.

    Cellular respiration occurs in both plant and animal cells which crosses off option A. Also, food is already used for energy in cells so there's no way for it to convert food into a more useable form. Respiration is the process of taking in oxygen and excreting carbon dioxide because a build up of carbon dioxide is detrimental to the body.
