The answer to your question is D. Meiosis occurs when the body produces sperm or egg cells. The cell first dupicates its DNA, and then splits into four seperate cells, each with half the normal number of chromosomes, so when the egg is fetilized it ends up with a full set, half from the sperm and half from the egg.

A is wrong because meiosis actually takes longer, because the cells have to split more times than in mitosis.

B is wrong and its actually the opposite of whats stated. Mitosis has one cycle while meiosis has 2.

C is wrong because mitosis is vital to an organism's survival. Mitosis is how body cells repoduce and it replaces all your dead cells and allows you to grow. An organism can survive without meiosis, but wouldnt be able to reproduce.
