There are four more phases that occur during meiosis than mitosis.

Meiosis and Mitosis undergo the same phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. The difference between the two is the number of stages, wherein mitosis only has one stage while meiosis has two. Meiosis has stage 1 with prophase I, metaphase I, anaphase I, telophase I and stage 2 with prophase II, metaphase II, anaphase II and telophase II.
