When solving an engineering problem, how can we be reasonably sure that we have created the best solution possible? what is the evidence?

    We can take our solutions and compare them all to each other in many various areas. Then once we have decided which areas are best solved by a certain solution we can make a best guess that this is our best idea to solve this problem. The evidence is in the data of the different approaches and the quantifiable "best" outcomes.
